O, die post!...

Het mooie van mail art is dat je bij het kunstwerk van de afzender, ook nog vaak een toevoeging van het postbedrijf erbij krijgt. Zo ook nu. Ik ontving een curieus pakket. Een plastic zak met daarin een envelop. Met wel een bekend handschrift, maar zij maakt er normaalgesproken nooit zo'n potje van.

One of the things I like in mail art, is the fact that you, besides the art work of the sender, often receive also some addition made by the post company. Also now this was the case.
I received a curious packet. A plastic bag, containing an envelope. With a (to me) well-known handwriting, but I was amazed: usually she doesn't make such a mess of her mail.



Pas toen ik de plastic zak openmaakte werd het duidelijk. Op het bijgevoegde briefje maakte het toevoegend kunstenaarscollectief zich bekend. En inderdaad: de Post!

Only when I opened the plastic bag, it became clear who the additioning artists collective was: the Mail company, indeed!



Gelukkig was de voorzijde niet veranderd, zodat ik ook van de prachtige tekening door Eva kon en kan genieten.

Where has the forest gone?

M'n mail art verstuur-activiteiten zitten de laatste tijd helaas wat op 'n laag pitje. Intussen ben ik 'achter de schermen', tussen alle dagelijkse drukte door, gelukkig wel bezig met het máken, van een mail art serie. Getiteld 'Waar is het bos gebleven?'.
Deel 1 (links, met zeehond) en deel 2 (rechts, stempelontwerp) zijn inmiddels verstuurd. De zeehond naar Haldjas, de zwart-wit tekening naar Ryosuke Cohen.

Last months I've been sending almost no mail art at all. Meanwhile I was and am busy making a mail art series, called 'Where has the forest gone?'.
Part one (you see on the left, with seal) I've sent to Haldjas. Part two (the black and white drawing / stamp design) is on it's way to Japan, to Ryosuke Cohen.

Small sized card, big feet?

Mijn schoenen volgen nog, maar bij deze alvast een 'voetkleding'-kaartje. Deze is 5 bij 8 centimeter klein (links adreszijde, rechts voorkant). Altijd interessant om te weten of een kaart die buiten het gebruikelijke formaat valt, ooit aankomt. Bij sommige lukt 't.

'My shoes' I will send an other day, but hereby I already am sending a 'footwear' postcard (label). It's 5 x 8 cms small (on the left the address side, on the right the front side). Looking forward to knowing if this card will arrive at all. Some extraordinary sizes did.

Zijn schoenen? His shoes? Call for Mail Art!

Wat leuk, die blauwe veters! Dat moeten wel de schoenen van Nico van Hoorn zijn. Met een oproep om ook 'my shoes' in te sturen (en ik vermoed dat ook jullie schoenen welkom zijn - als mail art, denk ik, hou de echte nog maar even zelf aan!).

Stamps carved by Lidia!

Een van mijn favoriete Nederlandse mail art kunstenaars (knutselaar, ook) is Lidia. Eerder stuurde ze deze prachtige collage.
Dankzij haar ontdekte ik de website van Gertie Jaquet, kinderboekillustrator die vorig jaar iedere dag een stempel maakte. Bij wie ik in een workshop ook zelf aan de slag kon met guts en gum.
En nadat ik Lidia eigengemaakte stempelafdrukken stuurde, werd ik verblijd met enkele van Lidia's mooie postkunst stempels. Hartelijk dank, Lidia!

One of my favourite Dutch mail artists is Lidia. She has sent me this beautiful collage previously.
Thanks to her I discovered the website of Gertie Jaquet, a children's book illustrator who in 2011 had this nice project 'A stamp a day'. Gertie organized a workshop where I've carve some stamps, too.
And after sending Lidia prints of these self carved stamps, in return Lidia made me happy by sending these great stamp mail art.

I still can't see it!

Altijd leuk om mail art per post te ontvangen. Maar... frustrerend als je niet weet van wie! Uit Engeland, aan de postzegel te zien. Even dacht ik aan het MyRealWall Head Quarter. Of toch niet?.. Help!

Always nice to receive mail art via snail mail. However... it's frustrating when one doesn't know who the sender was. And from where? The UK, according to the stamp? One second I thought it might have been sent from the MyRealWall Head Quarter. But I'm not sure... Help!
