The revenge of the Fish

Anyone who thinks 'sport' fishing is a nice hobby is short-sighted. There is debate about the question whether fish do feel pain or not, but I think no one can deny that having a hook stinged through your lip and getting into an environment in which you're suffering from asphyxia is not such a nice situation.

The postcard you see on bottom right made me make the illustration above.

This year Micu has an ongoing mail art project about endangered animals. I would say: take a look at Mail a Smile and join!

This bluefin tuna I finished today, in hope that the original species won't finish.

Puffins

I am not sure if these Puffins have arrived already. I've send them in December 2014, the Tufted Puffin (on top) to Hana in Japan, and the Atlantic Puffin to Denise in Canada. They might have got lost during their long flight, or, better, maybe they've met their family on their way, and just decided to stay there.
I see it before me, two drawn puffins standing on a rock above the see, surrounded by real puffins!..

An other seagull, zentangled

And not only an other wave, but also the seagull returned into a new piece of mail art.

Turquoise is one of my most favourite colours, and also seen in both sky and water.
So also Hokusai's sea and some zentangled waves and sky became part of this piece. Created for the 'Turquoise' mail art project, and sent to Monika Mori in Austria.

Made for Miche-Art-Universalis, for her mail art project 'Hommage to the World of Hokusai".



I think Hokusai's most famous work, the Great Wave ('The Great Wave of Kanagawa') has inspired many artists to create a variation.
I couldn't help adding this one. I simply love birds, and am impressed by both Hokusai's woodblock print and by the fact birds survive such hard circumstances.

Update 7 augustus 2011:

Ik vergat te zeggen dat Salina ook haar eigen ansichtkaartenlijn heeft. De linker inspireerde me tot bovenstaande postzegel, en de rechter ontving ik eergister in de bus.

I forgot to tell that Salina even has been discovered by postcard publishers.
The postcard on the left inspired me to make the stamp above; the one on the right I received few days ago.
