Flying Butterflies and Birds and Mail

'Vliegende vlinders en vogels en post'. Alweer 'n tijd geleden begon ik aan deze tekening. Pas nu kwam het er eindelijk van 'm af te maken, en naar Suus in Mokum te sturen.
Buiten begint de herfst, en ineens zag ik in mijn ooghoeken ronddwarrelende blaadjes op deze tekening, maar nee, ik tekende toch echt fladderende zomervlinders :-)

'Flying butterflies and birds and mail'. Already some time ago I started to create this one. Not before now I'm having some time to finish it and to send it to Suus in Mokum.
Outside autumn has reached our country, and suddenly I imagined I had drawn flitting leaves, but no, they still are fluttering summer butterflies :-)

Als antwoord op mijn air mail art deze documentatie. Leuke postzegel-stempel op de envelop!
En ook leuk dat mijn bijdrage niet alleen online tentoongesteld is, maar ook in het tastbare (analoge?) museum.

As an answer to my air mail art I received this documentation. I like the postage stamp-stamp in the envelope!
It's a nice idea that my contribution not only is exhibited online, but also in the real (analogue?) museum.

Air Mail gave wings to Snail Mail

Gemaakt voor / made for the Air Mail 100 project.




Toevallig had ik nog een laatste postzegelvel '100 jaar luchtvaart' in huis, met - links - het vliegtuig wat de eerste gemotoriseerde vlucht vanuit Nederland verzorgde, op 27 juni 1909. Zo'n kleine anderhalf jaar vóór de eerste Luchtpostvlucht, februari 1911, vanuit Modesto, de bestemming van deze kaart!
Rechts zie je een van de hedendaagse vliegtuigen uit het land van de afzender.

- I happened to have a last '100 years of aviation' Dutch stamp sheet, issued last year. On the left you see the airplane who did the first motorised flight, June 27th 1909, from the Netherlands. This was about one-and-half year before the start of the Airmail flights, Februari 1911, from Modesto, this mail art card's destination.
On the right you see one of the present-day airplanes from the sender's country.
