For the Endangered Animals project

This year Micu has an ongoing mail art project about endangered animals. I would say: take a look at Mail a Smile and join!

This bluefin tuna I finished today, in hope that the original species won't finish.

On the back side an example of the location fish like these finish in:

A few weeks before I drew and painted her this white rhino:

See Mail a Smile's gallery for more contributions from various artists to the Endangered animals project and feel inspired to add your contribution to this project!

No mountain without a valley...

... and also in valleys flowers bloom.

Created for Micu's mail art project 'Mail a Smile', sent to Henni in Finland (by the way, she creates beautiful water colour paintings).

Every month there is a new theme for mail art, to be sent to a new person who can use some smiles. So if interested to join this kind mail art project, see for more info the 'Mail a Smile' website.

Starring... Happy!

Always hard to draw a known person / animal as real as possible. For the Mail a Smile project I had a try to draw this friendly dog, companion of Kati, to send to Kati in Finland.

Behold the Money Man

I have created mail art before about the subject. The receivers of the October challenge of Mail a Smile inspired me to make one more.
However I am a little late in sending (october almost has been forgotten already), but I hope that Lilly and the No Impact Team can use this mail art.

Owls from the city

A busy life for the Owl family in the city. Made and sent to Germany, for the Mail a Smile project Challenge # 5.

More trees

Made for the Mail a Smile project. Still four days left, so if you wish to join this mail art project, see Challenge #4. The - freely interpretable - theme this time is 'Trees'.

And this 'watching you, watching me' tree I made as a reply to the great (a lot of turquoise!) picture JOB [5Blanks] sent to me from Germany.

Music - key to happiness

A songbird - the voice as an instrument. That's my interpretation of the third Mail a Smile challenge: Music - playing an instrument.
For the ones who consider 'voice' not to be a musical instrument: the postage stamp shows another one!
Sent to Jay in the USA.

And below you see the beautiful mail art Smile Micu had sent me as a 'thank you': Fred!

This weekend I created another musical instrument. Thanks to Eva's blog post I discovered Anke's website 'Snail Mail Magazine'. When I found out that Anke collects keys, I couldn't resist drawing this guitar player to send to her. Alas I couldn't send her a real key, because most of my keys I'm using to open doors, and the un-used one has been sticked to a guitar playing clay puppet...

Finally a song bird in a tree. This one below (1st from a new serie) is meant for the Brain Cell project by Ryosuke Cohen in Japan.

Mail a Smile Challenge #2

[Please scroll down for English text.]

Last month I participated in the first Mail a Smile challenge. The second challenge's theme is 'A cup of tea or coffee', chosen by Eva.
Above on top you see a felt cup of tea (with real tea bags behind it; computer technology hasn't developed that far yet: I cannot publish the smell of tea!).
Just above some tea and coffee cups, and below you see a collage of the stamps I made / sticked.
Only three days to go to join this challenge. If you want to join and send a smile to Micu's Mom in this period of pain and sorrow, don't hesitate to sign up to Mail a Smile!

Woodland Animals

Thanks to Eva I discovered a new mail art project: 'Mail a Smile'!
It was started by Micu from Budapest (Hungary) and Jennie from Stockholm (Sweden), with the aim to send smiles to people in need, by being creative ourselves by decorating envelopes and letters (or a card, in my case).

You can think of a 'smile' piece of mail art, or, better, have yourself inspired by the actual theme. The theme of the first 'challenge' is Woodland Animals. I first thought that it would mean 'animals living in wood', but later I realized that these might be all animals living in the woods (forest, 'bos' in Dutch). So I'll send this one, too.
