Economics worth more than animal life...

Some of you might know that in the Netherlands and some other countries the fipronil scandal took place in the past months.
Millions of eggs, hard work for the hens, have been destroyed.
And worse, hundreds of thousands hens have been killed. Some farmers have chosen to have the hens moult to have remove the fipronil from their bodies.

The newspaper article shown above, saying the judge decides farmers are allowed to kill the - healthy - chicken, made me very angry. Because the headline mentions 'gifkippen', 'poisonchicken', a 'framing' word.. What can the poor chicken do about it? And the text says the chicken are 'economicaly worthless animals'... While each and every animal is worth being!

Ezel

Ezels zijn leuke, wijze dieren (vind ik, zie ook mijn bijdrage aan verzamelingen). Helaas worden ze vaak uitgebuit. Ze werken hard, maar hebben desondanks niet hetzelfde aanzien als bijv. paarden.
Gelukkig ben ik niet de enige die ezels wel ziet staan. Toevallig is er zelfs een mail art project. Hoewel de deadline al lang verstreken is en de mail artist in kwestie al lang weer naar een ezel-arm land terugverhuisd is, toch deze ezel gemaakt en verzonden voor het Ezel mail art project.

Donkeys are nice, wise animals (I think, see also my contribution to the 'Collecting' mail art project).
Alas they are exploited often. They work hard, but don't have the same status and privileges as e.g. many horses have.
Fortunately there are more people who see something in donkeys. Even there's a mail art project about Donkeys, for which I drew this donkey - despite of the fact that the deadline already has passed.

Save the Fish: Paint a Fish!

De ''Teken/schilder een Vis' campagne heeft als doel om jongere generaties te betrekken bij de bescherming van de door overbevissing bedreigde visstand.
Zo te lezen vooral bedoeld voor kinderen, maar volgens mij is het voor alle leeftijden, dus teken je eigen vis online of upload je zelfgemaakte vis. Help!

Biodiversidade

Zombies kun je ook op de post doen

Eigenlijk heb ik niks met zombies en soortgelijke zaken (zie ook hieronder en stuur me er s.v.p. nooit een, wel een apart dier).
Maar soms moet je er gewoon een op papier zetten.
Voor het Send a Zombie project.
Toen het klaar was schoot me een lied van Hüsker Dü te binnen, waar ik vroeger graag naar luisterde.

Een kunstig gevouwen envelop (waarbij vervolgens het postbedrijf niet met routinewerk wegkwam, zie de post'stempel') van/door Amuldo uit Nederland.
Het openvouwen was minstens zo moeilijk, maar de moeite waard: een artikel uit een krant (pag. 21): huisarts Peter Leusink over de bezuinigingen van de huidige regering op de kunst.

With Amuldo I agree with Leusink's words. Art does well to people. The current economy measures of our government do harm a lot.
