Summer in Australia

Exact one day before I sent my 'Snail Mail Snail (3)' to Australia, this mail art started a journey from Australia to the Netherlands. To arrive today!
Made and sent by Sarah from Australia, this lady in Victorian era.
I love the fact that she is holding paper: a book? A letter? Mail art?!
And while here in the Netherlands the winter finally seems to arrive, there's a hot summer in Australia: over 40 degrees Celsius! Both Sarah and I wonder: how did they do it, keep themselves cool, Australian people in 19th Century, wearing clothes like this?
Thank you very much, Sarah!

  1. Hi Heleen! I am very happy to know that my mail art postcard arrived to you in one piece. And it is still very warm here! We are told by the weather professionals that it will continue to be hot for at least another fortnight. :/

  2. Thanks again, Sarah!
Concerning the weather, I've read in your blog that it's already 46 degrees...
Tonight the Australian hot temperatures even were in the Dutch television news. I learned that the Australian meteorology bureau had to add new colours to the weather chart (deep purple and rose), because the old chart only shows until 50 degrees while now it's even 54 degrees Celsius!..
I wish and hope the weather will turn better soon- and hope and wish your zucchini and other plants will survive this incredible heat!..
